A quote of my own that I created years ago is, “Always be YOU – Those who appreciate the real YOU will be blessed and those who do not, do not deserve to know YOU.” Too often we get caught up in being concerned about the opinions and thoughts of others. That can become restricting and frustrating. There is a greater freedom in knowing that you really only need to be concerned with the thoughts and opinions of those who know the real you and care about you for the person that you are. To truly get to know a person and accept them completely for whom they are, is one of the most powerful and greatest gifts that one person can give to another. Being in a room with someone that truly knows you and accepts the real you gives such a feeling of freedom. To have a friend like that is empowering. If you really want to know how to be an encouragement to others, give the gift of “I truly accept you and believe in you as you are” to others.
